I had a great reading month in October, I had the need to just pick up lots of gothic and atmospheric fantasy novels to physically read, whilst listening to cutie romances on audio.

I completed 11 books last month and here is a brief run down of what I rated them and a sentence or two of my thoughts.

  1. When the World Tips Over - Jandy Nelson (Gifted - finished copy)

    5/5 Stars

I have done a full review on this, but it was magical, a perfect contemporary YA novel with a smidge of magical realism, I had a great time. (this was a gifted copy, in order for me to take part in a PR readalong)

  1. Two Can Play - Ali Hazelwood (Audio)

    3.5/5 Stars

Round of applause, this was the first audio book I have ever actually finished. I enjoyed it, it had the familiarity and warmth of any Ali Hazelwood story, just quite predictable and nothing ground breaking

  2. My Roommate is a Vampire - Jenna Levine (e-book)

    3.5/5 Stars

This was okay, entertaining, funny, likeable characters, again nothing groundbreaking, but a cute seasonal read!

  3. Januaries - Olivie Blake (Gifted - arc)

    4/5 Stars

Full blog post review is incoming, but I loved this, basically a book of fairytales for adults

  4. Tales of a Monstrous Heart - Jennifer Delaney

    2.5/5

This had so much potential, it has just been poorly edited - full review on my GoodReads (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/35868923)

  5. A Dowry of Blood - S. T. Gibson

    4.5/5 Stars

This was immaculate, I am obsessed, I need to read every other book written by S. T. Gibson now, full review on both my GoodReads and my Bookstagram (https://www.instagram.com/amys_reading_diary/)

  6. Beach Read - Emily Henry (Audio & reread)

    5/5 Stars

I loved this book 4 years ago and I still love it now. Emily Henry is just amazing, I love her writing and her characters - she's just perfection!

  7. The Crimson Moth - Kristen Ciccarelli

    4.5/5 Stars

This felt nostalgic for me, it had everything I have always loved in a fantasy / romantasy, I flew through this, highly recommend and cannot wait for the next one (silently hoping I get lucky enough to receive a proof)

  8. The Wolf and The Woodsman - Ava Reid

    4/5 stars

This was my first Ava Reid book and I really enjoyed it, super atmospheric and not really like anything I have ever read before. I received this as my first book from my Mr B's Emporium Reading Subscription and I am super impressed. If you want someone to pick you out a book every month tailored completely to your reading taste definitely check them out - https://mrbsemporium.com/ (not sponsored or anything, I just love them!)

  9. Filthy Rich Vampire - Geneva Lee

    2/5 Stars

This was just mental, didn't make any sense and I will not be carrying on with the series, again check out my GoodReads for a more in-depth review

  10. Lady Macbeth - Ava Reid

    5/5 Stars

After the success of the Wolf and the Woodsman, I thought it would be perfect to end October with Lady Macbeth, and I loved it, one of my favourite reads of the year, I was absolutely transported

Thank you if you read this far! I had a great reading month, found some new favourite reads and authors. Feel free to comment how your October was for reading :)
